The White River
America's premier trout tailwater. 100+ miles of cold, clear, blue-green water fishable 365 days a year.
Wadeable & floatable
The White is a tailwater — Bull Shoals Dam releases cold water all year, so the trout never know there's a season. When generation is off, you wade. When water's up, you float. There's no bad day.
The trout
Stocked rainbows are everywhere, but the magic is the wild browns. The state-record 40 lb 4 oz brown trout came out of the White. Every guide on the river has a story about a fish that pulled them downstream.
Where to launch
Wildcat Shoals, Cotter, Roundhouse, Rim Shoals, Buffalo City — public access is excellent. Cotter ('Trout Capital USA') has the most fly shops and outfitters per square mile in the country.
