Thinking of moving to Mountain Home? Read this first.
Cost of living, healthcare, weather, and what nobody tells you until year two.
The full version of this guide is being written by our local contributors. In the meantime, here's a quick orientation:
Mountain Home sits in the heart of the Twin Lakes region — Bull Shoals to the northwest, Norfork to the east. The White River runs cold and clear beneath Bull Shoals Dam, and the North Fork River runs cold and clear beneath Norfork Dam. Both are world-class trout fisheries. Both lakes are among the cleanest big lakes in the country. The town itself has under 13,000 people but supports a regional medical center, a college, and a downtown square that actually still functions as one.
