Things to do
Caves & Caverns
The Ozarks are made of karst limestone. That means caves — thousands of them. Some you tour with a guide, some you crawl into with a headlamp and a friend.
Blanchard Springs Caverns
A living, dripping cave with three tours: Dripstone (easy), Discovery (moderate), and Wild Cave (4-hour belly-crawl). It's a 45-minute drive from Mountain Home and worth every minute.
Wild caves
Ennis Cave, Cave Mountain, Cushman Cave, and dozens of unmarked entries dot the Sylamore District. Many require permits; always check with the Forest Service and never enter alone.
Cosmic Cavern (Berryville)
Smaller commercial cave with a deep underground lake, blind cave trout, and stunning helictites. Great rainy-day plan.
